Frequently Asked Questions

Enrolments are accepted all year round, but the best time to enrol your child is at the beginning of the year (Term 1) – the year before your child is due to commence school.

Enrolment interviews for Kindergarten are held in May, and those for Years 1-6 are conducted throughout the year. Written offers of placement are sent out during Week 9 of Term 2.

Our office opening hours are Monday to Friday, between 7:45am and 3:00pm.


Our school bell times are as follows:

Morning Bell

8:15am

Lunch

10:15am – 10:55am

Afternoon Recess

12:55pm – 1:35pm

Dismissal

2:35pm

On Mondays our Kindergarten through to our Year 2 Students have different break times, these are as follows:

Monday Bell times for Early Stage 1 & Stage 1:

Morning Bell              8:15am

Lunch                         9:45am - 10:25am

Afternoon Recess     12:25pm - 1:05pm

Dismissal                    2:35pm

 

Supervision Times

  • Morning: Supervision begins at 7:45am.
  • Afternoon: The school day ends at 2:35pm. Parents and carers are encouraged to collect their children promptly, as no supervision is provided after 3:00pm.

There are many co-curricular activities on offer at St Clare's!

St Clare's offers a wide range of co-curricular activities designed to develop students' confidence, talents, and sense of responsibility.

Yes. At St Clare's, we prioritise Positive Behaviours for Learning, encouraging students to treat others with respect and to act justly. 

We explicitly teach expected behaviours and maintain transparent consequences for not following school rules. Our buddy system further supports children who may experience bullying. Parents are encouraged to speak with their child's teacher regarding ongoing social or relationship concerns.

Our practices align with the Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong's Student Pastoral Care and Wellbeing Policy.

Yes, the St Clare’s school canteen follows the 'Fresh Tastes @ School' NSW Healthy Canteen Strategy.

Yes, students can catch Busabout school buses serving Narellan Vale, Harrington Park, Mount Annan and surrounding suburbs. View the routes and timetables for the St Clare's bus services here.

Please note: The School Student Transport Scheme (SSTS) provides eligible school students free or subsidised travel between home and school on NSW public transport, including buses and trains. For more information and to apply for a school travel pass for your child, click here.

Yes, we have three companies offering Out of School Hours (OOSH) care services to the school community.

  • ABLE provides after-school care on-site at St Clare’s.

If you are experiencing financial hardship please contact the principal. Your situation will be treated with care and confidentiality, and an appropriate arrangement may be made. No student will be refused enrolment because of a family’s genuine inability to pay fees.

We warmly welcome parent and family involvement in school life.

Opportunities include:

  • Attending school events, assemblies, and liturgies
  • Volunteering in classrooms (eg: reading, lteracy, maths, craft)
  • Supporting school events and fundraisers
  • Joining the Parents and Friends (P&F) Association

Please note: Volunteers are required to complete a Working With Children Check (WWCC) – information and forms can be found on the CEDoW website

If you have concerns regarding your child's learning or wellbeing, contact your child's teacher as a first step.

Contact Options:

  • Call the school and request a callback
  • Email info@scnvdow.catholic.edu.au (addressed to the teacher) and this will be passed on to them

If the matter is urgent please contact the school office on (02) 4647 2845.

Please be patient, as staff prioritise student safety and learning during school hours.

If you need to speak to your child’s teacher, we ask that you do this by:

  • phoning the school office and asking that your child's teacher return your call; or
  • contacting the teacher via email at info@scnvdow.catholic.edu.au (attention the email to the teacher and this will be passed on to them) to arrange a time to talk.

If the matter is urgent please contact the school office on (02) 4647 2845.

We ask for your patience in response to your request as schools are busy places and the main priority of staff is the education, safety and wellbeing of the students in their care during school hours. Requests by parents for information and meetings will be responded to as quickly as possible.

What are the procedures for absences, late arrivals, or early departures?

Absences

Inform the school via:

Late Arrivals:

Children arriving after 8:15am must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and signed in at the office. A dated slip will then be provided for the teacher.

Early Departures:

Parents/carers must sign their child out at the office. The office will contact the classroom to arrange for your child to leave. 
 

Late Pick-ups:

If you are running late, please notify the office. Your child will be waiting in the office until collected.
